Biden’s team realizes this is why the auto workers are planning to vote against him this November, so they need to deliver some empty promises to retain the loyalty of the unions.

Joe Biden and his US Trade Representative Katherine Tai suddenly sound like Donald Trump when it comes to tariffs. This is a childishly transparent ploy to dupe the auto workers’ unions into supporting Joe Biden this November, however. If Biden loses in the Upper Midwest this November—particularly in the heart of the US auto industry in Michigan—his return to the White House looks next to impossible.
China has been very clear about its plans to decimate the US auto industry before 2030—the World Economic Forum’s target date to ban all gas-powered vehicles. President Trump has stated that it will cause a bloodbath in the US auto industry if China is allowed to “dump” its electric vehicles (EVs) in the US market.
China is planning to use cheap labor to make millions of EVs targeted in the $10,000 range. For comparison, the Chevy Trailblazer is one of the cheapest cars you can buy in the US right now, starting at around $22,000. Since Americans will be so impoverished if Joe Biden ends up in the White House for another four years, China is wagering that its much cheaper EVs will be the only thing we can afford. Hence, the bloodbath for American autoworkers.
We cannot stress just how dishonest this ploy is by Biden. He claims that he will be imposing tariffs as high as 100% on EVs coming from China. But that’s not where the flood of Chinese EVs will be coming from.
The three largest Chinese manufacturers of EVs are MG, BYD, and Chery. Those three companies have each invested up to $2 billion to build new manufacturing plants in Mexico. When those EVs are manufactured at Mexican wages, which Detroit autoworkers can’t compete with, the cars will come in at around an estimated $10,000 and then China plans to flood America with them.
Those EVs will not be coming from China and therefore Biden’s 100% tariff won’t apply to them. The EVs will be coming from Mexico and therefore they will be subject to the rules of the North American trade agreement that Donald Trump negotiated with Mexico and Canada. Biden’s tariffs on EVs coming from China would be as useless as his trade sanctions against Russia, which have only served to make Russia wealthier.
When Donald Trump says he’s going to impose a 100% tariff on every Chinese EV, he specifically says he’s talking about the plants in Mexico. Joe Biden is not referencing those plants, and American autoworkers need to realize this. If you’re employed in a plant that makes gas-powered vehicles in America, Joe Biden is perfectly willing to nuke your job for the climate cultists who think they’re going to save us all from sunshine.
Biden has already lost the sizeable Muslim vote in Michigan due to his mishandling of the Israel-Gaza conflict. Muslim voters may not have liked Trump’s immigration policies for four years, but at least Trump wasn’t getting their cousins back home killed in cluster bomb attacks in residential neighborhoods. Joe Biden is.
The Biden campaign can’t afford to lose the autoworkers’ unions in Michigan as well, because there aren’t enough phantom votes there to rig the 2024 election otherwise. He has to lie to them, but hopefully, they will see through the duplicity.
Did you see Donald Trump’s rally in New Jersey over the weekend? An estimated 100,000 people showed up on the beach to watch him, making it the single largest political rally in American history. Trump doesn’t lie to the American people, and he will protect the jobs of the American autoworkers—and every other industry. All Joe Biden can do is lie and pretend to copy Trump’s policies. If he falls further behind in the polls, Biden will probably pretend that he’s going to build a wall next.
