Senate Republicans are threatening to block the National Defense Authorization Act – responsible for funding the military – unless a vote is held to put an end to the COVID vaccine mandate for military personnel.
The effort is being spearheaded by Florida Senator Rick Scott and Kentucky Senator Rand Paul, along with 11 other senators.
After years of the Biden administration coercing members of the military into taking the experimental injections, Scott is saying enough is enough.
“I think on the NDAA one thing that’s going to be important is that we don’t give cloture unless they agree that we’re not going to keep kicking people out of the service for their – if they’re unvaccinated,” adding “I think that we’ve got to start standing up for people.”
A letter written by the Senators, sent to Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, states, “The Department of Defense COVID-19 vaccine mandate has ruined the livelihoods of men and women who have honorably served our country.”
“While the Department of Defense certainly must make decisions that will bolster military readiness, the effects of the mandate are antithetical to readiness of our force, and the policy must be revoked,” the letter further states.
Paul, who has been one of the staunchest critics of the vaccine and the mandates surrounding it, stated during a related press conference, “The vaccination mandate has forced our nation’s young patriotic men and women to choose between their faith, their medical autonomy and their careers.”
“At a time when the military is struggling to meet targets for recruitment, the administration is firing soldiers we invested in and trained,” Paul further noted.
“They deserve to have their religious freedom, as well as their medical choices and freedom to decide what goes into their body,” Paul stated.
He continued, “We know this, and this is a scientific fact, the vaccine does not prevent you from getting an infection, it doesn’t prevent you from transmitting an infection, and for young people there isn’t significant evidence to show that it reduces the severity or hospitalization.”
“The military has become so ‘woke’ and they’re demanding you get a vaccine that you don’t need, so something’s got to change.”
For 50 years the NDAA has been responsible for covering spending for the military, acting as a vital piece of legislation in Congress which covers things like pay raises and new program launches.
Despite numerous lawsuits which allege that the mandates are unconstitutional, the Biden regime has remained committed to forcing military personnel into getting the jabs – even deploying severe punishments for those who refuse.
The regime has pushed for dishonorable discharges and even court martials for troops who refuse orders to receive the injections.
The White House has claimed that it would “detract from readiness and limit a commander’s options for enforcing good order and discipline when a Service member fails to obey a lawful order to receive a vaccination.”
