Senator Chuck Schumer and the obstructionist Democrats’ government shutdown hasn’t affected the lives of most people. Not yet, at least. In all of the polls, slightly more people blame President Donald Trump for the shutdown, rather than the Democrats who shut the government down. That gap is narrowing, however. It’s only about a 3-point difference. Most people haven’t been impacted at all by the Schumer Shutdown, but that’s about to change in November. That’s when things will start to get dangerous for President Trump in the court of public opinion.
Everything seems to be going great. The president has resolved eight armed conflicts in his first nine months in office. Gas prices are down. The price of eggs has become sane again. Wages are slowly rising against the dollar for the first time since 2019.
But American families are still hurting after four years of hyperinflation that was caused by Dirty Diaper Biden and his cackling vice president. 69% of Americans say their income is falling behind the cost of living. You can’t turn four years of deliberate inflationary policy around in a few months, with or without tariffs.
American families are still hurting badly because of Joe Biden. And it could potentially get much worse if the Democrats don’t budge on their shutdown in a few days.
The latest figures show that about 42 million Americans are on food stamps (SNAP or EBT). I think that number might be low. Every time I go to the grocery store, either the person in front of me or the person behind me is paying for their food with an EBT card.
Millions of additional Americans are forced to degrade themselves by signing up for food stamps and other benefits because of Joe Biden.
Multiple states sent out warnings this week that there will be no money loaded onto Americans’ EBT cards, starting on November 1, if the shutdown continues. I think the 42 million Americans on food stamps number is low, but let’s say it’s accurate.
What happens when 42 million families can’t buy food on the 1st of November? The vast majority of states don’t have enough budget reserves to cover the EBT gap. The states are still hurting after COVID and four years of Biden-flation.
One of the reasons why America has been such a stable and peaceful country internally is that we can feed all our people. We always used to take good care of our fellow Americans when times got tough. It’s deeply destabilizing for any country when people start to go hungry.
Look at what happened in Algeria in 2019. Food prices there got too expensive for most families. So, they chased the guy in charge out of the presidential palace, rifled through his sock drawers, and took baths in his swimming pool. Hungry people topple governments.
The Democrat Party does not care about the American people at all. Do you think Nancy Pelosi will care at all when American families start complaining that they can’t feed their kids? She’ll just shrug and grab another pint of gourmet ice cream out of her $18,000 luxury talking refrigerator. If 42 million households can’t buy food in a few days, Democrats will view that as politically advantageous to themselves, which is the only thing they care about.
That will put all of the pressure on the Trump White House to resolve the shutdown.
Democrats have shut the government down because they want an extra $1.5 trillion to pay for Obamacare benefits for illegal aliens. Plus, they want several hundred million for a bunch of transgender BS in foreign countries. They couldn’t care less about Americans.
President Trump, on the other hand, has nothing but compassion for the American people. It comes across every time he speaks and acts. It’s impossible to say who will blink first if the shutdown gets to the point where tens of millions of Americans can’t afford food. Maybe the Democrats are counting on that.
Republicans should not budge on the ridiculous spending items the Democrats are asking for. Democrats haven’t shown any willingness to bring the standoff to an end. Projections are saying the shutdown could end up being one of the longest ones in American history—well over 60 days.
