Democrats, Media Clinging to Key Detail in Mueller Report Just Got Their Last Hope of a Trump Impeachment Crushed

After two years of Democrats and the mainstream media building up the Mueller investigation as the thing that would bring Trump’s Presidency to an end, the party was left with the most disappointing conclusion possible. In spite of Mueller’s best efforts, the special counsel was unable to find even a shred of evidence that Trump or his administration colluded with Russia in order to win the 2016 election. This was a reality that Mueller made very clear in the report he delivered to Attorney General William Barr.

Nevertheless, the left continues to cling to a false hope – that Trump will eventually be charged with obstruction of justice so they can feel a skootch less bad about achieving their dream of impeaching him out of the White House.

While Mueller exonerated Trump on the issue of Russian collusion, he stopped short of saying that the President is fully exonerated on the issue of obstruction of justice. This detail is what Democrats and the mainstream media are hanging their last hopes on. Mueller detailed in his report that did not have compelling evidence to charge the President so presented both sides of the argument in his report and left the final decision up to the Department of Justice.

This has left a tiny crack in a door that essentially slammed close the minute Mueller released his report. With that said, Democrats who are choosing to cling to this detail in the report are simply setting themselves up for disappointment—yet again.

Let’s start with the fact that Robert Mueller has spent the past two years investigating everything there is to investigate about Donald Trump and every single person in his administration. The special counsel admitted in his report that he employed 19 lawyers who were assisted by a team of 40 FBI agents, intelligence analysts, forensic accountants and other professional staff. Mueller also says he issued more than 2,800 subpoenas, executed nearly 500 search warrants, obtained more than 230 order for communication records, made 13 requests to foreign governments for evidence and interviewed approximately 500 witnesses. It’s safe to say the Mueller and his team left no stone unturned and that President Trump has been more thoroughly investigated than any other human being on the planet.

If there was any evidence that President Trump committed obstruction of justice – or any crime at all for that matter – Mueller would have advocated for such a charge in his report. Something he did not do.

Attorney General William Barr, Dept Attorney General Rod Rosenstein and other Department of Justice lawyers have all said that after taking the weekend to fully go over Mueller’s in-depth report, the evidence does not meet the lowest possible standard for them to pursue charges of obstruction against the President. Therefore, if Democrats are hoping that the DOJ is going to pick up where Mueller left off, they are likely going to be left wanting.

Furthermore, after AG Barr made the announcement that Mueller’s report did not meet the standards to charge the President with obstruction, doesn’t it stand to reason that if Mueller or any member of his team had really thought the President should be charged they wouldn’t be at home sitting quietly right now while Barr makes announcement after announcement of exoneration? No they would be on every anti-Trump media outlet saying they thought he should be charged, but just couldn’t convince Mueller to do it. But none of that is happening.

This leaves only one body that is capable of continuing investigations against the President – Congress. Since Democrats took control of the House after the 2018 midterms, they have opened up one pointless investigation into President Trump after another. These investigations may slow down now that it has been proven that Trump did not collude with Russia, but I wouldn’t hold my breath for that to happen.

What’s more likely to happen is that we see even more Congressional investigations as House Democrats desperately attempt to pin anything on Trump that could lead to his impeachment. The fact that Mueller has left them a tiny breadcrumb of hope that Trump did commit obstruction of justice makes it all the more likely that Democrats will continue to pursue investigations on the taxpayer dime that do nothing but further divide our nation.

In the meantime, though, the celebration will continue on for President Trump and his supporters. A witch hunt that has dragged on for years has finally been brought to its inevitable conclusion. After years of promises from the mainstream media that the Mueller report would bring Trump’s presidency to an end, those same reporters and journalists are now being looked at with disdain and resentment by Republicans, and Trump supporters.

Regardless of whether or not those on the left continue to cling to the false hope that Trump will be charged with obstruction of justice, it’s a bright day in America. The dark cloud that was purposefully placed over Trump’s presidency has parted, and President Trump is no longer burdened by accusations that he knew to be false all along. At this point, if Democrats really want Trump out of the White House, playing fair and beating him in an election seems to be their only real hope.
