Trump Admin Prioritizes States with Higher Birth Rates for DOT Projects

One of the things that has always stunned conservative political observers is the brazen way in which Democrat administrations punish their enemies and reward their friends—but then Republican administrations never take that same approach to governance. Those days are over with Donald Trump in office.

Under a new initiative from the Trump administration, federal Department of Transportation infrastructure dollars are now going to be redirected to red states that are making more babies. It’s about time!

Trump’s new Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy, a father of nine, has announced new guidelines for doling out federal DOT projects. When the Biden regime was in charge, states that prioritized environmentalist BS and social justice were given priority for DOT projects. Former Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg was very concerned about racist roads, for example.

Duffy has announced that under the new guidelines, states that have more marriages and babies will be given priority. And by “marriage,” he means real marriages between one man and one woman. None of those California “throuple” deals or situations like Pete Buttigieg’s living arrangement.

Secretary Duffy says DOT will now “give preference to communities with marriage and birth rates higher than the national average.”

You can imagine how Democrats are freaking out over this. Sen. Richard “Da Nang” Blumenthal (D-CT) said that Duffy’s new policy is “deeply frightening” and sounds like something the Chinese Communist Party would do. That’s a ridiculous criticism. Blumenthal supports everything the CCP does.

Sen. Patty Murray (D-WA) says the policy is “disturbingly dystopian.” Anything even vaguely conservative is always The Handmaid’s Tale with these people.

The media is trying to claim that “many Republicans” are opposed to using public policy to encourage marriage and family formation. But are they?

Duffy’s policy proposal makes a lot of sense. Transportation projects are expensive. Once they’re completed, these projects improve the quality of life of folks who live in that area for many years to come. People who get married and have kids are thinking about the future. Selfish and childless Democrats who abort their babies and shun marriage only think about themselves in this moment.

Under Duffy’s policy, states like North and South Dakota, Alaska, Nebraska, and Utah that have higher birth rates would receive priority for federal tax dollars for infrastructure projects. Those states have birth rates in the range of 67 to 71/1000. Meanwhile, California doesn’t give a flying rat’s rear-end about children and families. When you subtract illegal aliens having anchor babies in California, the state’s birth rate is 10.65/1000.

Duffy’s policy is justifiable because red states that encourage family formation and not killing babies in the womb have rising populations. Blue abortion states are dying. Pierre, South Dakota seems far more deserving of transportation projects than San Francisco.

Back during Trump’s first term in office, we praised Hungary’s Viktor Orban for implementing federal policies that prioritized the future. Orban’s government instituted changes that make it easier for young couples to get married and have children. Almost every country around the world is experiencing declining birth rates that are below the population replacement level.

In Hungary, if a woman has three children (above the 2.4 replacement level), she never pays income tax again in her life. Once a family has two kids, they can get a government-backed loan to help make the down payment on a home.

Hungary’s birth rate among women under these policies has increased from 1.23 to 1.5 births per woman as of 2023. It’s still not up to the replacement level of 2.4 kids per woman, but a 25% increase is amazing as the rest of the world’s nations continue to face population collapse.

Former Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg was apparently too busy to ever show up for work. The Trump administration and Sean Duffy have inherited $1.2 trillion in unspent appropriations for transportation projects that were left over by the lazy Biden regime. The priority for those dollars will be spending them in red states where family formation and having children is a priority. As it should be!

If you’re a Republican and you’re opposed to this as a governing philosophy, we have bad news for you. Vice President JD Vance, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, and Sen. Josh Hawley (R-MO) are now among the most popular YOUNG Republicans who do support these ideals. One of those three will most likely be President Trump’s replacement for eight years (most likely Vance). The philosophy underpinning this GOP policy shift is going to be here from now on.
