Trump Protects America, Freezes Afghan Visas After Illegal Shoots Two National Guardsmen

There’s nothing more gut-wrenching than watching our own heroes gunned down on American soil by someone who never should’ve been here in the first place. This week, the nation mourns the death of West Virginia Army National Guard Specialist Sarah Beckstrom, killed in cold blood in our nation’s capital, while Air Force Staff Sgt. Andrew Wolfe fights for his life in a hospital bed. The alleged shooter? An Afghan national who strolled into our country back in 2021 thanks to Joe Biden’s disastrous and rushed Afghanistan withdrawal.

Now, President Trump is doing what Biden never had the backbone to do: protecting Americans first. On Friday, the Trump administration ordered an immediate halt to all visa processing for Afghan nationals. That’s right—visa applications from Afghanistan are done, cancelled, frozen. Why? Because one of those so-called “allies” from Biden’s refugee airlift just pulled a gun and shouted “Allahu Akbar” before firing on two uniformed American service members in the heart of Washington, D.C.

This is not a paperwork issue. This is a national security crisis caused by political cowardice and virtue signaling. The shooter, Rahmanullah Lakanwal, had ties to U.S. government agencies including—get this—the CIA. That should terrify anyone who still thinks we can vet these people properly. We were told these Afghans were thoroughly screened. We were told they were friends, not threats. We were told by Biden and his State Department that “America has a moral obligation.” Well, tell that to the family of Specialist Beckstrom.

President Trump wasted no time. In a statement, he made it crystal clear: “We must now re-examine every single alien who has entered our country from Afghanistan under Biden, and we must take all necessary measures to ensure the removal of any alien from any country who does not belong here, or add benefit to our country. If they can’t love our country, we don’t want them.”

Amen.

The Trump administration’s Principal Deputy Spokesperson Tommy Pigott underscored this effort, saying, “The Trump administration has no higher priority than ensuring the safety of Americans.” That’s what leadership looks like. Not press conferences about “diversity” or “welcoming communities.” Just decisive action to protect American lives.

Let’s not forget what got us here. In 2021, Joe Biden’s rushed and chaotic withdrawal from Afghanistan turned Kabul into a warzone and the Kabul airport into a human conveyor belt. No real vetting, no clear process, and no accountability. Biden’s White House turned that evacuation into a PR stunt, flooding our country with tens of thousands of Afghans under the guise of humanitarianism. Now, one of those people has allegedly committed an act of terror against our troops.

And for what? So Democrats could feel good about themselves while ignoring the consequences for working-class Americans, for military families, and for the men and women who serve this country with honor.

President Trump also issued a broader warning. He vowed to halt migration from all “Third World Countries,” calling this attack “a crime against our entire nation.” And he’s right. Our immigration system is broken because Democrats broke it. They turned it into a compassion contest and hung an open sign on the border. The result? Americans are dying.

This isn’t about race or religion. It’s about reality. If we can’t vet people with ties to foreign intelligence agencies and radical ideologies, we shouldn’t be importing them into our neighborhoods, period. Not one more soldier should bleed because of Democrat incompetence.

The Trump administration’s decision to slam the brakes on Afghan visas isn’t “controversial.” It’s common sense. It’s leadership. And it’s about time we stop treating immigration like a charity raffle and start treating it like the national security tool it is.

Because the next time one of Biden’s “safe” migrants pulls the trigger, it could be in your town.
