Bill Barr Stops Democrats from Violating Religious Rights During COVID-19 Crisis

Democrats are not letting the COVID-19 crisis go to waste. Rather than focus on protecting the health and lives of vulnerable community members, many have leveraged the pandemic to push their liberal agendas and violate the U.S. Constitution.

In Michigan, thousands took to the streets around the Capitol building protesting Democrat Gov. Gretchen Whitmer’s order to cage citizens in their homes. Whitmer has banned any and every thing she can in the state–residents can’t buy seeds to plant, American flags or anything else that brings a little bit of joy in this pandemic.

In Greenville, Mississippi, Democrat Mayor Erik Simmons sent out a brute police squad to crack down on the faithful who attended a drive-in church service on Easter Sunday.  In a move so rare it borders on unprecedented, the Department of Justice intervened.

“Today, the Department filed a Statement of Interest in support of a church in Mississippi that allegedly sought to hold parking lot worship services, in which congregants listened to their pastor preach over their car radios, while sitting in their cars in the church parking lot with their windows rolled up,” U.S. Attorney General Bill Barr reportedly said. “The City of Greenville fined congregants $500 per person for attending these parking lot services – while permitting citizens to attend nearby drive-in restaurants, even with their windows open.”

“The City appears to have thereby singled churches out as the only essential service that may not operate despite following all CDC and state recommendations regarding social distancing,” Barr added.

Southern Democrats have grown increasingly radicalized in recent years. Many are pushing for abortion-on-demand laws, increased rights for illegals and stripping people of faith of their First Amendment rights.

The Temple Baptist Church has a long-standing fellowship. They made the necessary changes in protocol so the congregation could still worship at a safe, social distance during the recent Holy Week. Arthur Scott, the church’s 82-year-old pastor, was enthusiastic about innovatively using the parking lot where people remained in their vehicles and listened to his sermon through their car’s radio as a forum to deliver the gospel.

The pastor reportedly said it was a “wonderful way to preach the gospel, and still, it’s like they are there, but you can’t go out and see them, but you know they’re there. We haven’t missed one Sunday in 45 years. We love our people. This is a way we can preach to them. We’re afraid of the coronavirus as much as anybody else. And if we thought we were putting our people in danger at all, we wouldn’t do this.”

But his encouragement about overcoming the COVID-19 disruption was short-lived. A reported eight police officers were dispatched in a scene that made the crackdown look like an active shooter had opened fire. And for Democrats trying to move states such as Mississippi to the extreme left, religious freedom remains a high-value target.

Given the fact that Republican Gov. Tate Reeves deemed church services essential, it’s obvious interrupting Sunday worship was both deliberate and malicious. But the Democrat mayor back-peddled after the DOJ and governor got involved.

The mayor’s office issued a statement “that all drive-in and parking lot church services are allowed in the City of Greenville so long as families stay in their cars with windows up, and all state and federal social distancing guidelines and standards are adhered to and complied with.”

Backing down from the Republican governor and U.S. Attorney General Barr does not amount to a correction. The liberal extremist got caught and could pay a hefty price for attempting to trample the religious rights of good people in Mississippi.

“Thank you to the Trump administration and Attorney General Bill Barr for this strong stand in support of religious liberty,” Mississippi Gov. Tate Reeves reportedly tweeted. “The government cannot shut down churches. Mississippi is not China. This is still America.”
