Congress Just Nuked Gavin Newsom’s Stupid Electric Car Mandate

Back in 2020, California Governor Gavin Newsom (D) signed an executive order to ban all gas-powered vehicles in the state by 2035. Every vehicle sold after that year must be gay and electric. The problem with that executive order was that it was wildly unconstitutional to try to force car and truck companies to start building EVs.

Moments before he left office, Joe Biden granted Newsom a waiver through the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) that would allow one state to upset the entire consumer market in America. Fortunately, Congress just kicked Gavin Newsom in his perfect, fake teeth.

Newsom’s ban on normal vehicles was never going to fly. It was going to hurt a lot of people while making friends of the Democrat Party very rich. The Newsom mandate would have upset the entire market for cars, pickups, vans, and tractor-trailer trucks across the country. Which is why Joe Biden granted Newsom a waiver to do it in the first place.

The House of Representatives just voted to repeal Biden’s waiver, which means that Newsom’s ban on gas-powered vehicles can’t go into effect. The vote wasn’t even close, either.

It was 246 in favor of the repeal to 164 opposed. 35 House Democrats voted to repeal Gavin Newsom’s mandate—including two Democrats from California!

The House used the Congressional Review Act to overturn Biden’s waiver, which is a procedure that doesn’t require 60 votes in the Senate. Cory Booker won’t be able to filibuster it to try to save the weather from gas-powered cars.

You might think, what’s the big deal if California wants to enact a nutty electric car mandate? It doesn’t affect me!

But it does and it would affect millions of Americans. Despite being turned into a dump by communist rulers like Gavin Newsom, Kamala Harris, and Arnold Schwarzenegger, California is still an extremely popular place to visit. Personally, I don’t get it. I live out here in California and after I escape one day (hopefully), you couldn’t pay me to ever visit this sh*thole again. But some of the national parks in California haven’t been completely covered in garbage by illegal aliens yet, and they’re quite pretty.

Millions of tourists drive to California every year for a visit. None of those people would be able to drive their gas-powered vehicles into California after 2035, because the inherent insanity in banning gas-powered vehicles means that THERE WILL BE NO GAS AVAILABLE.

Want to drive out to California from Ohio to visit your grandkids? Better buy a Prius!

It gets worse than that. Newsom also banned gas- and diesel-powered trucks in California. He wants every tractor-trailer in California to be electric by 2036. This would force the entire trucking industry in America to convert to electric, which no one in that industry wants.

If a long-haul trucker in Virginia wants to haul a load to California and pick up another load at the Port of Los Angeles, he’ll have to be driving an electric truck. No exceptions. Gas-powered trucks wouldn’t be allowed on the roads.

My neighbor owns a local trucking company and Newsom’s ridiculous mandate would have been devastating to him and his family. He’d have had to replace his gas-powered trucks, which are bought and paid for, with a new fleet of electric trucks at $500,000 a pop if Newsom’s mandate had been allowed to go into effect.

Newsom’s electric vehicle mandate is yet another reason why Americans should be wary of ever allowing him to become president. His ideas as a governor are so bad that he needed Joe Biden to sign off on them!

Since we’re on the subject of the worst governor in America, how is the rebuilding project going in Pacific Palisades after Gavin Newsom allowed 5,300 homes to burn down? President Trump visited the state and Newsom promised, along with LA Mayor Karen Bass, to get an expedited permitting process going for the residents who lost their homes.

After four months, they’ve now issued… 19 building permits. Way to go, Gavin!

We should all be incredibly thankful that Republicans in Congress (and 35 Democrats) did the right thing on this issue. One governor in one state shouldn’t be allowed to disrupt the entire automotive industry for the rest of the country.

We also hope that this isn’t the last time that Gavin Newsom gets spanked by wiser people.
