Tucker Carlson recently interviewed a Palestinian Christian pastor. Like many of Tucker’s thinking-outside-the-box interviews, it was interesting and thought-provoking.
The pastor’s flock has been in direct danger from Israel’s bombing campaign against Hamas and many innocent civilians have been killed (something like 35,000 now). Isn’t that a story worth telling?
Yet the bizarre overreaction to that interview by many conservative thinkers here in America tells us we have a serious problem in this country that we need to talk about.
The conservatives at Instapundit and PJ Media immediately condemned Tucker Carlson as an anti-Semite and an “idiot” just for interviewing a Palestinian Christian pastor. What?!
Tucker suddenly hates Jews because he talked to someone and asked questions? I don’t think I’m going out on much of a limb here by saying I don’t think Tucker is an anti-Semite. There’s been an explosion of this weirdness in America lately.
Students across the country have suddenly been staging pro-Palestinian protests on their campuses. They’re protesting Israel for killing civilians. Some of the protesters are taking things too far and calling for a counter-genocide against the Israelis, but that happens in every protest.
What’s amazing about this new wave of protests is that Republicans and Democrats alike are piling on against the protesters. Many conservatives who have spent the last three years decrying the way that the January 6ers have been treated are calling for these students to be arrested, expelled, and in some cases deported to a foreign country.
I say this with all due respect to my fellow conservatives:
What the hell is wrong with you?
If your principles don’t extend to people you disagree with, then maybe they’re not principles at all. I disagree with almost every single point these protesters are making but I support their right to peacefully protest.
There have been a few jackasses here and there, like the protesters who blocked traffic on the Golden Gate Bridge, but most of them have been peaceful. They’re pitching tents on campus, chanting their dumb slogans, and smoking weed. Who cares? College students have been doing that for 60 years.
If you believe that the January 6ers were mostly peaceful and didn’t deserve to be arrested and have their lives destroyed by the DOJ, then why the hostility toward these dumb college kids? Over a foreign country, no less!
A group of protesters showed up and started chanting outside Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer’s house this week. The cops showed up and immediately started arresting them! These are the same cops who refused to arrest the protesters yelling death threats at Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh’s family over the Dobbs decision that overturned Roe v. Wade. Why is Israel more special than protecting the lives of US Supreme Court Justices?
In Calvert County, Maryland, a group of 13-year-old boys was teasing one of their classmates earlier this month. They were drawing swastikas on their notebooks, doing Nazi salutes, and making Hitler jokes at the expense of one of their Jewish classmates. In other words, they were behaving exactly like every obnoxious little 13-year-old who has ever lived in the entire history of the human race. Instead of telling them to knock it off, school officials called the police and had the three boys arrested for “hate” crimes. For teasing a Jewish classmate.
This is not a country that any of us should want to live in. Why are we suspending the First Amendment rights to freedom of speech and freedom to protest just to spare the delicate feelings of a foreign country? It doesn’t make you an anti-Semite to support the First Amendment. It makes you pro-American. This shouldn’t be that difficult.
Another thing that conservatives should realize is that these protests hurt Joe Biden and help Donald Trump—so shut up and let the kids protest already! We’ve never seen a candidate like Donald Trump before in American history. If you’re pro-Israel, Trump is the only choice on the ballot for you this November. If you’re pro-Palestinian, Trump is the only choice on the ballot for you this November. Conservatives should stop squandering this opportunity by condemning the student protesters.
One last thing—the reason why they are arresting these student protesters is because this is another organic protest, much like Occupy Wall Street. George Soros didn’t organize these. They never made mass arrests at the BLM arson parties that Soros was throwing in 2020, but they’re mass arresting these kids. Open your mind and spend a few minutes thinking about why that is.
Your comments are myopic. Israel, unlike all other nations in past historical warfare, is going to great lengths to minimize collateral damage. And, by the way, let us not forget who initialized this war. It was Hamas, and 90% of Gazans overwhelmingly voted for Hamas. It is a death cult. And these dumb protestors are openly calling for Israel’s destruction as well as the U.S. One chant cited the number 48 in an obvious reference to mainland U.S.

I agree with Mr. Harvey and must add that fires and “death to Americans” etc. should be cause for dismissal. Non-citizen students protesters calling for death to anyone or any nation should be sent home.
Most Americans incl.these students have no clue what they are doing.I suggest some go over to Israel and or Gaza and stay there a while. Then you can give us your views of Hamas.

Unfortunately, it is very hard for me to read, and I am really quite interested to read what you have said. Many need to realize the complete history of the Jewish state. Most only go back as far as the history benefits them. I also want to know a complete history as I can’t rely on what I remember from my Sunday school lessons when I was in grade school and my lessons during confirmation classes.
Larry Johnson – Jesus is not in the Old Testament. He was born long after, and was preaching from its teachings. He was born a Jew and died a Jew. He did not appoint Jerusalem as the capitol. I think you need a better lesson about Jesus.

Larry – Jesus is not mentioned in the “Old Testament.” He followed and preached from the “Old” Testament – the Hebrew Bible. In his day, there was no “OLD” Testament, that is otherwise known in Hebrew as the TORAH, nor was there a “SON OF G-d” Jesus was born a Jew and died a Jew.
