Numerous Haitians were among the more than 400 illegal immigrants crossing America’s southern border in Mexico this week in an effort to seek asylum after Department of Homeland Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas said they would be turned away if arriving at the U.S. border by boat.
Fox LA reporter Bill Melugin tweeted on Tuesday, “Live on @FoxNews yesterday in Del Rio as large groups of single adult men were allowed to walk through the border gate into the United States & were taken into Border Patrol custody. The men told me they were from Ghana, Haiti, & Brazil. Part of a group of 400+ let in.”

It is uncertain what will happen to the members of the group. Border Patrol officials processed the migrants in small groups and then transported them away.
Former acting DHS secretary Chad Wolf called out the issue on Fox News last week. “So if you’re Cuban and you make it to Mexico and you walk across the southern border illegally, they are not returning you to a third country,” he said. “But if you are Cuban and you try and flee by boat over the Florida Straits then they are according to the secretary, so it’s very inconsistent.”
Wolf is absolutely correct. Any Haitian, Cuban or other person seeking entry into America appears to be able to do so with no problem—as long as they enter across the nation’s southern border.
Cuban freedom protester? Just take a detour west and then pass into Del Rio. Haitian fleeing political unrest? Come and join us.
We’re all for helping people in need as Americans, but the open border runs into not only inconsistencies; it also faces dangers.
Why? The same tweet that referred to immigrants from Haiti also mentioned people from Ghana, a nation in Africa. What’s stopping al-Qaeda or al Shabaab from Somalia or ISIS or any lone wolf form making the same trip?
The scary answer is nothing. Nothing at all. Biden’s open border policy is letting terrorists walt through our doors.
The next 9/11 is unlikely to happen from a plane, but rather from a Middle Eastern terrorist who crosses the Rio Grande and blends in with the larger groups of Mexicans, Hondurans, Guatemalans and others. The Biden administration’s policies make it more difficult for an American to visit Toronto than for a terrorist to enter El Paso.
Many Republican leaders have already recognized this, and some are acting to end it. Texas Gov. Greg Abbott has started building the state’s own fence. Why? Abbott knows his fence won’t really stop immigrants, but he says he’s putting it up so they will have a legal method to arrest illegal immigrants on state charges who cross it.
He’s also sending out the call for help to other states. Places as far away as South Dakota and Ohio are responding with National Guard troops to help patrol the border. It’s going to take all the help Texas can get to keep any kind of control over the thousands of people crossing per day along it’s border.
If anyone can do something about it, it’s patriotic Americans who love their country and are willing to act to protect it.
