Why Latinos Love Donald Trump

Donald Trump has made headlines with many of his comments over the last year. One of his plans, which has garnished a good amount of support from Republicans, is the construction of a wall running between the Mexican and United States border.

Now, some thought this would turn the Latino vote against him, but that simply is not the case. Support continues to grow in the Latino community for Donald Trump as more and more have listened to what he has to say and what he wants to do.

Recently, GOP pollster Frank Luntz in Alexandria, Virginia, conducted a focus group with Hispanic and Latino voters. He wanted to learn what they had to say about Donald Trump and why they would or would not vote for him.

To his surprise, a considerable amount of the focus group did come out and state they would vote for Trump during the general election. One of the individuals on the focus group, Elizabeth, a naturalized immigrant, commented on her change of thought on the situation.

She stated that at first, when she did not actually listen to Donald talking, she assumed he didn’t like Mexicans and individuals coming up south of the border.

However, as she actually started to listen to everything he had to say, she realized he’s simply against illegal immigration. That is why she likes him and will vote for him.

Elizabeth said she believes all immigrants coming into the United States should do it legally. She did so and, while it took 10 years to become a nationalized citizen, she said others shouldn’t be allowed to break international law and take resources from those who did follow the rules.

She pointed to it being like cutting to the front of the line and receiving preferential treatment without putting in the effort.

This is a notion many Latino and Hispanic voters who support Donald Trump have come to realize and are also preaching to their other voting friends and family members. They point out Donald is actually a very big supporter of immigration and legally documented workers.

Of course, this voting percentage is not all made up of immigrants, nationalized immigrants and other individuals looking to come into the country for work. There are those who were born in the United States and who are as much of a citizen as anyone else born in the U.S.

These individuals also make up the Latino voting community and, while some do have a connection with immigration reform with friends and family members still in Mexico, this is not why they are voting for Donald Trump.

One Latino Trump supporter, who goes by the name of Lou, stated the big reason he is voting for Trump isn’t because of immigration, but because of his stance on the national debt. Lou compared the current debt crisis in the United States to Greece and that he doesn’t want the country to completely fall apart due to the ballooning national debt.

Trump’s support from Latino and Hispanic voters will play a big role in his chance to win the Presidential election. It is why the growing support within the community is important.

When he won the Nevada primary, he received around half of the Latino vote. In Texas, he received more support from the community than Marco Rubio.

In an interview with The New Yorker, Hispanic American John Castillo of Los Angeles, stated he is a full supporter of Donald Trump. His father, Juan, was born in Tijuana, which is San Diego’s bordering town.

Juan immigrated into the United States as a young child with his family and eventually took up a job, went to school and started a family. John ended up enlisting into the Marine Corps, serving mostly in Asia.

He considers himself an American first and foremost, with Mexican heritage and ancestry. He has come out as a major supporter of Donald because he believes Donald Trump is relatable. He says Donald doesn’t try to confuse voters by using overelaborated phrasing and words most people have never even heard of.

He says Donald speaks like a regular person who just wants to make the country great. John also said he is sick of career politicians who have basically put the country in the position it is right now.

John, Lou and Elizabeth are just a handful of the growing Latino support for Donald Trump. While many Latinos are still shy to admit in public that they will vote for Trump in November, the numbers don’t lie. Trump’s consistently polled higher and higher with Latinos every month since his campaign began. But you won’t hear the liberal media reporting that.
