The Democrats would really love it if everyday Americans would just shut up. Wouldn’t that be nice for them? Enacting their policies would be so much easier if they never had to defend them publicly and if the public couldn’t speak out against them. The Biden regime can’t just blatantly censor us from the White House—at least not yet—so they have to come up with creative ways to circumvent the First Amendment.
A group of researchers from the American Institute for Economic Research (AIER) say they’ve uncovered yet another way that the Democrats are colluding with tech companies to silence conservative media outlets.
The Biden regime has been paying a company called NewsGuard with your tax dollars. American taxpayer money is given to the State Department. The State Department gives your tax dollars to something called the Global Engagement Fund. The Global Engagement Fund then pays NewsGuard to rank news websites based on their “trustworthiness.”
If there’s one thing Joe Biden still knows how to do really well, it’s laundering money!
Advertising agencies then use NewsGuard’s rankings to determine where they want to spend ad revenues. If a website like American Liberty Report or Gateway Pundit or Breitbart makes NewsGuard’s naughty list, advertisers are less likely to want to pay to have their ads appear there.
NewsGuard brands itself as “The Internet Trust Tool.” It offers “transparent tools to counter misinformation for readers, brands, and democracies.” Sounds fancy, doesn’t it?
NewsGuard, however, was founded by liberal activist and journalist Stephen Brill. It has people like former CIA Director Michael Hayden and Wikipedia founder Jimmy Wales on its board of directors.
The good news is that Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton, fresh off defeating a RINO impeachment attempt against him earlier this year, filed a lawsuit against the State Department last week. The suit alleges that the State Department’s actions “render disfavored press outlets unprofitable.”
When conservative news outlets are suppressed, their advertising revenues drop. If those revenues drop far enough, those outlets then can’t make a living and get forced out of the marketplace by simple economics.
The American Institute for Economic Research (AIER) found this out the hard way back in 2020. AIER hosted the original conference that led to the Great Barrington Declaration being written and published. That was the declaration that voiced opposition to the COVID lockdowns on medical science and not on hissy-fit emotions.
The Great Barrington Declaration was what made Francis Collins at the National Institutes of Health panic. She emailed Dr. Tony Fauci and told him to do a “quick and devastating published take down.” As part of that effort, NewsGuard did an official “fact-check” against AIER.
NewsGuard used former U.K. Health Secretary Matt Hancock to attack the scientific research behind the Great Barrington Declaration. Far from a neutral party, Hancock was a fierce lockdown hypocrite. Hancock’s assistant was hilariously forced to step down when the Daily Mail caught him breaking lockdown rules to visit his mistress. Hancock himself later resigned in shame when he was caught violating his own lockdown rules.
The AIER took a financial hit because of all of this. It was being fact-checked and its findings were opposed by some of the most powerful government entities on the planet.
NewsGuard didn’t stop there, however. It continued to carry the water for the Biden regime by labeling all conservative news outlets that gave credence to the COVID lab leak theory as misinformation spreaders. After reality forced its hand, NewsGuard quietly retracted the negative ratings that it had applied to 21 separate conservative news sites.
The fact-checkers at NewsGuard were not simply wrong. They were paid to be wrong. Joe Biden paid journalists to decide which information Americans could or could not see in the midst of the pandemic. We have no reason to believe that they have discontinued this practice.
As the researchers at AIER wrote last week, the First Amendment “is so clear that only a politician could manage to miss the point.” Truer words were never spoken.
Hopefully, Paxton’s lawsuit will not only put a stop to this practice of paying to censor Americans with their own tax dollars but will also uncover more of the Democrats’ pay-to-play schemes during discovery. It sure is nice to have at least one state attorney general that’s watching out for us.
