In a story that hasn’t gotten much coverage lately, Senate Democrats are trying to falsely smear Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas in order to eventually (we believe) impeach him or simply drive him into retirement. They’re also after Justice Thomas Alito.
During a Senate Judiciary Committee hearing on Thursday, Democrats were all set to issue subpoenas to a couple of associates of the justices. Senate Republicans actually stepped up to the plate for once, however. They offered a slew of counter-subpoena amendments to a range of liberal causes and people, including Jeffrey Epstein’s estate, which made Democrats suddenly cancel the hearing.
Hahahahaha!
Democrats were planning to subpoena Leonard Leo on Thursday. He’s the leader of the Federalist Society, which is the group that vetted all of President Trump’s judicial nominees between 2017 and 2020, including the three new Supreme Court Justices that Trump nominated. They also wanted to subpoena GOP donor Harlan Crow, because he’s a personal friend of Clarence Thomas.
The whole thing is a fishing expedition to try to come up with something that Democrats can use to claim impropriety by conservative judges on the court. It’s also completely unprecedented for one of the three branches of government to meddle in another one like this. It would be like a president attempting to kick a Representative out of the House, or the Supreme Court trying to remove a US Senator from office. The whole thing is weird, upside-down, and unprecedented.
Fortunately, this hearing turned out to be one of the few shining moments that we’ve seen from Senate Republicans in the last few years. The last time many of them got this feisty was during the Brett Kavanaugh hearings. It feels weird to be typing this, but even Lindsay Graham (R-SC) and John Cornyn (R-TX) looked like conservatives for a few brief moments. Stopped clock and all that.
“You’ve opened up Pandora’s box and you’ll get a look into it,” said Graham. “It’s not very pretty.”
He was right!
Democrats were prepared to vote on subpoenas for Leo and Crow, but then Republicans started adding amendments with their own subpoenas to the bill. John Cornyn offered an amendment to subpoena George Soros and his son Alex Soros over their efforts to influence the composition of the Supreme Court. You could see the faces of Democrats on the committee starting to sink at that point.
Sen. Josh Hawley (R-MO) offered an amendment to subpoena Arabella Advisors, the largest Democrat “dark money” donor in the country, which every Democrat Senator and most Democrat Representatives benefit from.
But it was Sen. Marsha Blackburn (R-TN) who was the shining star of the hearing. She offered up some doozies!
She started by putting forward an amendment to subpoena the flight logs from Jeffrey Epstein’s estate. She says that given Epstein’s history of child sex trafficking, the public has a right to know who flew on Epstein’s “Lolita Express” private jet and how many flights they took on it. That caused some nervous, sideways glances in the hearing room.
Oh, but she wasn’t done! Blackburn had a bunch of additional amendments for subpoenas queued up.
She filed an amendment to subpoena HHS Secretary Xavier Becerra, to answer questions about how Joe Biden’s Department of Health and Human Services somehow “lost” 85,000 illegal alien children earlier this year. (Probably related to an Epstein-style business that the Democrats are involved in, but who knows?)
She filed one to subpoena the DOJ about why President Trump’s successful China Initiative—to crack down on Chinese spies in America—was ended by Joe Biden. She filed one to request all documents related to financial donations made by Robert Mueller’s team of Russia collusion witch hunters. She filed another requesting information about how Justice Sonia Sotomayor’s speaking engagements relate to those same entities then buying thousands of copies of her book.
Finally, Blackburn offered a subpoena into why the FTC suddenly opened up an investigation into Elon Musk’s purchase of Twitter, after Musk exposed all of the federal government’s efforts to censor Americans online.
And that was it. The hearing was canceled! Democrats bailed. We’re not sure exactly which GOP amendment spooked them the most, but they definitely seem to have gotten the message.
As Lindsay Graham noted, they’re trying to open Pandora’s box. If the Democrats do so, Republicans can instantly start sending retaliatory subpoenas after next year’s elections, in which they only have to win one seat to capture the Senate majority.

If Republicans were truly serious about exposing wrong doings by the dumbokkkrats, they would go ahead and subpoena these documents and expose these criminals disguised as the reps/sens of we the people!
Sic ’em Marsha! That southern Mississippi gal, Senator Marsha Blackburn, knows the truth, wants the truth, can handle the truth but the Democrats bail like rat’s from their sinking ship running away from truth! Bunch of Dem cowards know what a pile of “deep do-do” looks and smells like, Dems don’t want any part of it when it is of their own party’s making! What they don’t know is how many Dems might face expulsion from Congress and serious prison time! Now that’s a fitting idea!
I would like to thank the GOP Senators, you know the ones who are either complicit, too afraid, or are RINO, for actually showing up for us instead of cowering in fear and falling in lockstep with the Dems!
The Republicans need to stop with the threats and go into action. But alas they are too much of the UNIPARTY to change the status quo. The sad part is that there is no longer a real Republican party, too many RINOs (Democrats) posing as Republicans. America is now a one-party system so now we all need to go MAGA and get rid of both of the so-called parties that collude against the American people for power ans control for the benefit of the NEW/ONE World Order.
Amen, Carolyn. What this country needs is a viable 3rd party, be it the MAGA party, TEA party or whatever. Both parties think the American people are stupid and alas we keep proving them right by voting for the same sorry people every time. First we must get rid of the traitor, Joe Biden.
The Republicans shouldn’t just be threatening subpoenas in retaliation, they should have made these subpoenas a long time ago!!! Why didn’t they? And will they follow through now that they have been layed on the table? Or just idle threats as the Republicans are so famous for doing, if they do anything at all.
I remember when America stood together for something. Today everything is argued about by the opposing parties until nothing is done, then when parties have changed positions, the same that was argued is now a great plan. Simply because it’s idea came from the opposite party!
Don’t just threaten with the subpoenas, use them and go to work. Marsh, you are great.

Yes…Quit talking about what you will do and DO IT. I know that it will involve some of our Republican politicians as well, but we need to have transparency about who is dirty and who is not.
