Has anyone checked to see whether pigs have suddenly grown wings and taken up flight as a new hobby? That’s what it feels like today, after CNN did something over the weekend that CNN never, ever does: They fired one of their terrible anchors.
CNN announced on Saturday night that Chris “Fredo” Cuomo was terminated, effective immediately. This was shocking because CNN never fires any of its anchors or producers over the lurid and depraved scandals that take place in their personal lives.
Fredo got caught using his position and his influence as a TV news talking head to try to bail out his brother, New York Governor Andrew Cuomo, over the governor’s weird sexual harassment claims that ultimately cost him his job. Fredo was suspended by CNN for looking out for his brother.
None of us really expected Fredo to get canned over this. CNN’s Brian Stelter, who is a potato, mused on his show that Fredo would be back on the air sometime in January. No way was Fredo getting fired. CNN president Jeff Zucker was protecting Fredo. We don’t have confirmation on this yet, but it’s a safe bet that CNN’s legal analyst Jeffrey Toobin was probably pulling for Fredo, too (heh!).
Let’s review just a few of the lurid scandals committed at the lair of scum and villainy known as CNN over the years, which did NOT result in anyone getting fired there.
Eason Jordan was the president of CNN’s newsgathering and international networks for many years. In 2003, it was discovered that Jordan had been directing CNN reporters to publish literal propaganda for Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein from 1993 to 2003 – from the end of the first Gulf War to the beginning of the second Gulf War. CNN treasonously ran pro-Saddam propaganda for ten years so that Saddam would not shut down the network’s Baghdad bureau. Eason Jordan kept his job, despite violating every single standard for journalistic ethics.
Current CNN primetime talking head Don Lemon is being sued in civil court for a sexual assault that he allegedly committed against a bartender in 2018. The facts of the case are so rock solid that the victim has refused three large cash settlement offers from Lemon’s defense team. Eyewitnesses are willing to testify under oath that they saw Lemon’s disgusting attack on the poor bartender. The bartender was on Fox News on Monday and stated about CNN, “They’re a network rife with predators and perverts.” Our fact checkers rate that statement as 100% TRUE!
Despite the eyewitness accounts and the expectation that Lemon will lose the case over his disgusting attack on a stranger… Don Lemon has kept his job at CNN.
And of course, we all remember the sad, fully nude saga of CNN legal analyst Jeffrey Toobin. None of us will ever view Zoom calls the same after Toobin disrobed last year on a call with staffers from the New Yorker and proceeded to Toobin himself. Yeah. There’s even a new verb named after his perverted antics. But after a brief suspension, Toobin was back on the air at CNN.
Of course, my all-time favorite pervert scandal from CNN has to do with Richard Quest. Back in 2008, Quest was the subject of a spectacular arrest in Central Park, New York while dressed like one of the Village People – but with more leather. Cops who encountered Quest in the middle of the night found him with a pocket full of crystal meth and a sex toy dangling from his boot.
The dignified British anchor for CNN also had… um… a rope in his possession. One end of the rope was tied around his neck. The other end was tied around his genitals. This situation led to one of the best quotes ever about anyone from CNN, when an NYPD sergeant told the New York Post, “It’s unclear what the rope was for.”
Following his arrest, Richard Quest was PROMOTED by CNN to be the main anchor at CNN International in the UK.
After Fredo Cuomo was suspended, the bosses at CNN started an internal investigation in which they began reading all of Cuomo’s work-related text messages and emails. I shudder to think what they found. Good grief!
If committing treason against the United States and lurid sex crimes is not enough to get someone fired from CNN… what on earth could Fredo have done to make his bosses can him?
