The suicide bomber who killed 13 U.S. military members and dozens of innocent Afghans outside the Kabul airport in August was sprung from the Bagram prison just days earlier by the Taliban, according to a new report.
“We now understand … that Abdul Rehman Al-Loghri, the terrorist who from ISIS-K was responsible for killing 13 American service members and dozens of Afghans civilians trying to get out of the country, that he had been held at Parwan prison in Bagram Air Base,” CNN’s Clarissa Ward reported Wednesday.
“When the Taliban took power on that Sunday, the first thing they did before coming into Kabul was essentially to empty the prisons at Parwan Prison in Bagram and also Pul-e-Charkhi,” she added.
The Parwan prison housed several hundred members of ISIS-K when the Taliban took control of the location following the departure of the U.S. military. The Taliban released prisoners from both prisons, ultimately releasing the man who they then convinced to be a suicide bomber at the Kabul airport later that week.
Who decided to leave Bagram to the Taliban? This is a key question the recent Afghanistan Senate hearings did not fully address.
It’s also the same question Lt. Scheller brought up that led to him being removed, thrown into the brig and potentially court martialed. But he’s not the one who turned over the prisoner who killed 13 Americans troops.
Someone else did. It was either an edict directly from President Joe Biden or someone in his administration. Whoever it was, they are responsible for the deaths of those 13 American military members.
At a minimum, the person should be fired. It doesn’t matter if it was Biden or Austin or Milley or someone else, the least the person should do is lose their job over this unnecessary loss of lives.
But so far, not a single Biden administration leader involved in Afghanistan has been punished or reprimanded. Not a single person has been fired or forced to resign. In fact, Biden called the withdrawal from Afghanistan “a success.”
Not sure how he defines success, but if that’s his definition, it may help explain why he does not consider American to be in the midst of a border crisis and also doesn’t consider our current inflation crisis a problem. He is so detached from what is really happening that even John Kerry has claimed Biden had no idea what was going on when the nation got in the way of a French multi-billion dollar submarine deal with Australia. Makes you wonder who’s really in charge in the White House, doesn’t it?
Instead of success, we got dead Americans, left behind Americans and airlifted over 100,000 Afghans, including many living in our own country and paid for by our tax payer dollars. That is not success. That is corruption at its highest.
More than 700 of these Afghan refugees have already left military bases and their location is unknown. It’s only a matter of time before one bad guy becomes the next Kabul bomber, only this time on American soil instead of in Afghanistan.
The Kabul bomber will soon be the least of our worries. Our biggest problem right now is the leadership sitting in our own White House.
