It’s hard to quantify the amount of misery that Joe Biden’s policies have caused the American people. Suicide rates are through the roof. So are deaths of despair from drugs and booze.
An incredibly worrisome new fact emerged this week, which is that the US birth rate has plunged to its lowest level ever. We’re no longer having enough babies to sustain our population.
Whether people want to admit it or not, that is the beginning of a truly dangerous civilizational collapse.
According to the data just published by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), Americans had the lowest number of births in 2023 that we’ve seen since 1979. By comparison, we only had a population of 225 million in 1979, compared to nearly 350 million today.
There were only 3.59 million American babies born last year, a 2% decline from the year before. The current fertility rate has plunged to 1.6 births per woman, well below the replacement rate of 2.1.
As more and more baby boomers are starting to reach “that age,” we will soon have a situation where the number of deaths in America exceeds the number of births, if this trend continues.
Why isn’t anyone in Congress talking about this? More importantly, why aren’t US lawmakers doing something about it?
Plunging birthrates could be turned around with incentives. This isn’t speculation. Hungary has been doing it.
Most nations on earth are going through this curious cycle right now, where their birthrates have plunged below replacement level. Under President Viktor Orban, Hungary decided to try to fix that. Why not incentivize having more babies? It’s certainly a better idea than replacing your population with hordes of illegal alien child molesters.
One of the policies that Hungary implemented a couple of years ago, which we’re very big fans of, was a break on income taxes for having children. If a couple has two children, the wife’s income tax rate is slashed in half. If they have a third child, the wife never has to pay income taxes again.
Another pro-family policy that Hungary implemented is called the “Family Housing Allowance Program.” Under this program, a married couple with three children can receive a government grant of up to $36,000 toward the purchase of a new home. They also get a value-added tax deduction for the home and a capped-interest loan on part of the home’s value. All told, couples that have three children can qualify for up to $80,000 on the purchase of a home. That’s a really incredible deal since the current median home price in Hungary is $152,000.
Another pro-family policy they put in place is a graduated child tax credit. If a couple has one child, they get a $400 tax deduction. If they have three kids, they get a $1,500 tax deduction per child. (Keep in mind that the average annual salary in Hungary is around $15,000 USD.)
Is this working for Hungary? Yes, it is. Just the child tax credit alone resulted in 18,000 more births over the first two years. Notice that Hungary’s biggest benefits go to families that have three children, which is above the necessary replacement level of 2.1. Hungary’s birth rate still isn’t back up to replacement level, but the incentives for couples to have more children are clearly working.
How hard would it be to start implementing similar policies here in America? Everyone is talking about student loans right now. It seems like it would be a slam dunk for Republicans to tie student loan forgiveness to childbearing. Want to wipe out those insurmountable loans quickly? Grab a bottle of wine and put on some Marvin Gaye.
Homeownership is now unaffordable for most millennials and GenZ kids. Why not put it in reach for them, by offering a portion or all of a down payment once couples have a third child?

1.6 Million reported surgical abortions in the United States. That is 2 generations of babies killed. We also practice contraception which is really chemical abortion because the embryo is washed out since the uterus is unprepared for pregnancy because of the contraceptive drug. Abortion on demand is still rampant in the US and why are we surprised that the birth rate is below replacement? There is no future for a country that kills its young. Japan now pays women to get pregnant so does North Korea.
