Leaked internal emails reveal that senior officials in the Biden FBI are pressuring subordinates to find ways they can SPY on all American citizens.
According to Wired, who obtained the emails, Paul Abbate, a deputy director for the FBI pressed other agents to use the bureau’s warrantless wiretapping authority to surveil innocent Americans.
Section 702 of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) was set up in 2008 to allow for the surveillance of threats from hostile actors who are taking part in crimes such as arms proliferation, terrorism, drug trafficking and cyber-crimes.
So long as at least one of the parties involved in the communications is “reasonably believed” to be a non-citizen living outside of the U.S., the FBI and other government agencies can force American companies to record and hand over all of their communications WITHOUT a search warrant.
However the FBI has shown a tendency to abuse this and certainly did so when they spied on Trump’s 2016 campaign.
Beyond campaigns, the bureau has targeted journalists, protesters, and sitting members of Congress but now it seems they’re trying to go after regular Americans.
The controversial surveillance program was extended for two more years in April and it seems as though the bureau is hoping that if they can catch some regular Americans committing “crimes,” they can demonstrate the value of tools like this.
In the April 20 e-mail Abbate instructs employees to find ways to use the authority, writing: “To continue to demonstrate why tools like this are essential to our mission, we need to use them, while also holding ourselves accountable for doing so properly and in compliance with legal requirements.”
He added: “I urge everyone to continue to look for ways to appropriately use US person queries to advance the mission, with the added confidence that this new pre-approval requirement will help ensure that those queries are fully compliant with the law.”
Even Democrat lawmakers like Rep. Zoe Lofgren have sounded the alarm about the fact that this is a disturbing move by the FBI which shows that they’re trying to convince agents to spy on Americans.
“The deputy director’s email seems to show that the FBI is actively pushing for more surveillance of Americans, not out of necessity but as a default. This directly contradicts earlier assertions from the FBI during the debate over Section 702’s reauthorization,” Lofgren wrote.
On top of the FISA spying, the FBI recently admitted that they were going to be colluding with Big Tech to ramp up online censorship efforts ahead of the 2024 election.
In 2020 we already saw what that looks like, with the bureau cracking down on any pro-conservative speech to do their best to help Joe Biden win the election.
We could be looking at a reality where the Biden-loyal FBI censors free speech in public squares like social media platforms and then, through their surveillance operations, punishes anyone who is caught talking bad about Joe Biden – after all, they have been accusing Trump supporters of being “domestic terrorists” for some time now.
