So Much Winning: Trump Drops the Hammer on Legal Immigration

There are early rumors that the number of legal immigrants admitted into the United States fell to around 565,000 last year – that’s down from the 1.2 million-per-year high of the Obama administration. If that number turns out to be true, I’m going to build a second statue of President Donald John Trump in my back yard. This is incredibly important, because America is almost past the point of no return when it comes to foreigners deciding our nation’s destiny.

Millions of millennials look at America right now and think that socialism under Bernie Sanders is preferable to the country that has been wrecked by globalism. Before you condemn them, they’re partly right.

Thanks to the 1965 Immigration Act, which the globalist neo-liberals used to allow more than 60 million foreigners to invade America, millennials know they are doomed. Their inheritance was squandered for a bowl of pottage. If you were born after 1987, you now have almost no chance whatsoever of participating in the “American dream,” thanks to mass immigration. Millennials know that unless they get lucky and strike it rich, they will never be able to own a home or retire.

When you allow a million foreigners to move into your country every year, it drives the native wages lower, while driving up the cost of everything else. Your housing costs go up because there aren’t as many houses being built as there are people moving in. The health care system is strained, the education system is strained, your insurance goes up, your utilities go up, everything goes up except for your wages.

Millennials see this and think, “Well, at least under socialism, I’ll have a small chance of being one of the ones who can game the system and thrive. But under this current system, I’m screwed.”

President Trump is showing us that there’s another alternative, though: Cut off the immigration spigot and your nation can recover over time.

One of the major ways that Trump has managed to curb legal immigration, which we’ve just learned about, is by expanding the list of crimes that can bar a potential immigrant from coming in. Think about that for a second.

We should want an immigration system that doesn’t allow any criminals in, right? But for the past three decades before Trump, US Customs and Immigration Services (USCIS) was allowing foreign applicants to move into America in spite of serious criminal convictions!

Committing crimes is obviously a reflection of a person’s moral character, no? I think we can all agree on that. USCIS under the Trump administration has now – finally – expanded the list of crimes that can be used to bar a foreign criminal from moving in. When you read about these crimes in the following list, keep in mind that the Clinton, Bush and Obama administrations were allowing immigrants to move to America after committing these crimes:

  • Incestuous Child Rape: Convicted child rapists were always barred from immigrating to the US, but there was one exception: Immigrants who had been convicted of raping their own children. Trump has now excluded these people as well. (Such a bigot, he’s always demonizing immigrants!)
  • Human Smuggling: Criminals who smuggle people across international borders are just one step away from human traffickers (there’s a lot of overlap, actually), but they were still allowed to move in before Trump.
  • Polygamists: This will have a huge impact on immigration from Islamic countries. We don’t want to break families up, right? So, since polygamists are now barred from entry, Muslims with two or more wives will just have to stay home.
  • Pimps and Prostitutes: We already have plenty of those. Since there’s no worker shortage in that field in America, there’s no need to bring in foreign competitors who have been convicted of those crimes. Think of the impact on American wages. Plus, being arrested for these crimes sort of speaks to their moral character as well, but don’t tell Sen. Bob Menendez (D-NJ).
  • Convicts: Uh… we were allowing immigrants who were released from 5-year prison sentences to move into America. If you only served four years and 11 months for a crime, Trump will still let you in, but at least he’s drawing the line at five years.
  • Drug Sentences: Seriously?! We were letting people with drug trafficking convictions immigrate to America?!

Let’s face it, we didn’t even have an immigration system by the time Trump was elected in 2016. They were letting anybody in as long as they could pay the fees for the paperwork.

The Trump administration imposed these new rules last year. If the 565,000 legal immigrants in 2019 number is accurate, I suspect that these new rules played a huge part in it. And it’s only going to get better from here, as the new points-based rules go into effect.

Bravo, President Trump! Keep it up, because America needs you.
