The coronavirus doomsayers are starting to sound like global warming zealots. The sky is falling! 40 million Americans will die! Drink tea made from licorice root! Yuck! I don’t even like regular tea, so I think I’ll take my chances with coronavirus, especially now that President Trump may have discovered the cure already. Talk about a winning streak! Is there nothing this amazing president can’t accomplish?
I’m only halfway kidding. Before we get to the actual possible cure, could everyone please calm down about coronavirus? Sure, it’s a “new” virus and that’s always scary, but we’ve been through these before. This isn’t going to be a Black Plague or even a 1918 Spanish flu situation.
I’m now convinced that much of the scaremongering over coronavirus is being intentionally stoked to prevent President Trump from winning reelection in November. All of the Democrats’ 2020 candidates are such total duds that it will take a major crisis for Trump to be unseated.
And one more thing: Could Fox News please stuff a sock in the mouth of that doctor who’s been chasing ambulances around – literally – on Tucker Carlson’s show every night? The guy is obviously delighted at all of the airtime that he’s getting as a “medical expert” talking about the coronavirus, but sheesh! Enough already. He doesn’t seem to know what he’s actually talking about, and he’s one of the worst fear peddlers that any of the network news channels have on right now.
This coronavirus outbreak is the third SARS outbreak that we’ve had in the last 20 years and it is the least deadly outbreak of SARS that we’ve seen to date. The 2012 outbreak had a 34.4% mortality rate and I had forgotten about that outbreak. The 2002 outbreak had a 10% mortality rate. No one outside of China died from either one of those outbreaks.
The 0.5%-2% estimated mortality rate from this current outbreak sounds scary, but no one outside of China has died from it yet who was not already A) elderly, or B) very sick from another illness when they caught it. If you wash your hands, stay away from crowds and avoid people with the sniffles, this will be about like any regular flu season for most of us.
Many of the doomsayers, including the little putz on Tucker Carlson’s show every night, have been moaning that it will take years to develop a coronavirus vaccine. That’s a lie.
About that cure…
As soon as the communist Chinese released samples of the Covid-19 coronavirus back in January, a company called Moderna Therapeutics in Boston got their hands on a sample. They created a complete genetic sequence of the virus within days. That’s a process that used to take years, and even a few years ago it still took months. With modern technology, it only takes days.
Once they had the genetic sequence mapped out, they started working on a vaccine. That vaccine is nearly ready.
President Trump was mocked after his press conference on coronavirus, for saying there might be a cure “very soon.”
What a jerk, proclaimed our media experts! Doesn’t he know that takes years and millions will die in the meantime while he’s busy wasting money trying to build his racist wall? This is what happens when stupid rubes in flyover country fall for Putin’s memes and elect an anti-science bigot as president! We need Joe Biden or Elizabeth Warren to come in and save us immediately or else everyone will die of coronavirus aaaaaagh!!!!
Remain calm. The coronavirus vaccine samples have been sent to the National Institutes of Health where they are being prepped for human trials right now. One of the American coronavirus patients who caught it on that cruise ship has already volunteered to be the first human test subject. If it works, we have the capability to mass produce it, despite all claims to the contrary by that shrimpy ambulance chaser on Fox News.
Trump is also tossing aside all of the red tape and regulations that prevent the rapid development of new medicines and vaccines. The media and the Democrats want to blame President Trump for everything that goes wrong. This is intentional and they are once again trying to weaken him with this coronavirus scare. I say turnabout is fair play.
Therefore, I give President Trump full credit for curing the coronavirus so quickly.
