An Obama-appointed judge in San Francisco did his level best to influence a jury to render a guilty verdict against a pair of pro-life investigators for publishing a hidden camera video of Planned Parenthood executives talking about selling aborted babies to the highest bidder. In the video officials from the abortion clinics were caught confessing on undercover video that they made lucrative deals to sell aborted babies.
The trial that found David Daleiden and Sandra Merritt guilty of conspiracy to commit fraud, breach of contract, trespassing, and violation of state and federal recording laws was a complete and utter sham. Judge William Orrick routinely instructed the jury that the Center for Medical Progress pro-life activists were already guilty before they had a chance to hear all of the testimony and conduct their own deliberations.
“I just want to be very clear that I want these witnesses to be able to testify as to what their reasonable state of mind was with respect to the specific defense … but we’re not going into the truth of abortion procedures. I’ve excluded that,” Orrick reportedly said. “I have already determined that these defendants trespassed at each of these locations.”
The Obama judge continued to influence the San Francisco jurors to disregard the true facts that the whistleblowers had obtained legitimate footage of Planned Parenthood affiliates conducting a quid pro quo to increase profits by selling the babies that they abort at a premium.
Such conduct and actions are federal crimes punishable by jail time. Rather than investigate and charge the abortionists based on credible information and a confession, a case was launched against Daleiden and Merritt by former California Attorney General Kamala Harris. The attack on pro-life advocates helped convince California voters to elect Harris to the U.S. Senate and launch a primary bid for the Democratic party’s presidential nomination.
“While top Planned Parenthood witnesses spent six weeks testifying under oath that the undercover videos are true and Planned Parenthood sold fetal organs on a quid pro quo basis, a biased judge with close Planned Parenthood ties spent six weeks influencing the jury with pre-determined rulings and by suppressing video evidence, all in order to rubber-stamp Planned Parenthood’s lawsuit attack on the First Amendment,” Daleiden reportedly wrote in a statement. “This is a dangerous precedent for citizen journalism and First Amendment civil rights across the country, sending a message that speaking truth and facts criticizing the powerful is no longer protected by our institutions.”
Liberal judge Orrick reportedly has strong ties to the San Francisco-area Good Samaritan Family Resource Center. The organization is a pro-LGBTQ resource and works in partnership with Planned Parenthood. Orrick failed to recuse himself despite the obvious conflict of interest and appearance of impropriety.
What is stunning about this case is that the video evidence published by Daleiden and Merritt has yet to be successfully refuted. The first-hand evidence reportedly prompted three congressional hearings and criminal investigations in 15 states outside the Democrat stronghold of California. In none of these cases was Planned Parenthood charged with a crime, and the abortion clinics continue to boldly deny they sell fetal remains for profit in the face of the videotaped confessions.
Rather than providing Daleiden and Merritt appropriate whistleblower status and protections for bringing crimes to light, former state attorney general Kamala Harris stripped the pro-life advocates of their rights and pushed a political sham trial. The defendants are being forced to pay the guilty abortion outfit upwards of $2.3 million and could spend time behind bars. They plan to appeal the state-level decisions.
