Biden Failures: ISIS Unleashes Rash of Killings as Power Grows

The humiliating withdrawal from Afghanistan created a vacuum for the most radical extremists in the Muslim world to revive their reign of terror. With the primarily tribal Taliban struggling to govern the country, ISIS factions have embarked on yet another murderous rampage as it grows in power.

“The Defense Department is saying ISIS could strike the homeland in the next six months. That means we may have to go back as soldiers,” Rep. Mike Waltz, a former Green Beret, reportedly said. “We may have to send our special operators back to deal with the rising ISIS and al-Qaeda threat.”

Reports coming out of the region indicate dozens were recently killed in an ISIS-K attack on a military hospital in Kabul. A suicide bomber reportedly penetrated security and exploded a device outside the 400-bed Sardar Mohammad Daud Khan facility. Doctors at the scene reported gunmen entering the hospital and killing 25 people, primarily Taliban soldiers.

Suicide bombers also orchestrated attacks in the northern city of Kunduz and Kandahar, Afghanistan’s second-largest city, in recent weeks. Upwards of 90 people were reportedly killed and hundreds were wounded at the hands of ISIS-K. These and other troubling reports follow ISIS-K’s attack on the Kabul airport that murdered 13 U.S. soldiers and approximately 170 civilians during Joe Biden’s botched evacuation.

Although Taliban and Biden officials have tried — ineffectively — to quell the fears of Afghani residents, an envoy recently voiced his fears. U.S. special representative for Afghanistan Tom West recently went on the record indicating support for the less radical Taliban and fear that ISIS-K could prevail.

The Biden Administration is “worried about the uptick in ISIS-K attacks, and we want the Taliban to be successful against them,” West reportedly said. But what may be more concerning to everyday people is West’s confession the White House is out of its depth in terms of stabilizing the region after failing to leave a security presence.

“The Taliban have voiced very clearly and openly their desire to normalize relations with the international community, to see a resumption in aid, to see a return of the international diplomatic community to Kabul and to see sanctions relief,” West reportedly said. “The United States can deliver none of these things on our own.”

What the mainstream media fails to clarify to the American people is that only a thin ideological line separates the loosely-knit Taliban and ISIS-K insurgents. Although both organizations follow Islamic law, the Taliban employ judicial processes that rely on tribal judges and officials. The Taliban also limit their ambitions to governing Afghanistan as a nation-state. By contrast, ISIS-K and other affiliates seek to establish a caliphate over all Islamic regions.

The differences may seem nominal to people accustomed to Western Democracy, but ISIS’ call to marginalized and struggling Muslims often proves appealing. A “custodian” for ISIS-K recently went on the record pointing out why Muslims should leave the Taliban and join its hardliner ranks to rebuild a caliphate.

“The nationalist Taliban movement only has control of some regions of ‘Afghanistan,’ nowhere else,” the ISIS leader reportedly said. “As for ruling them by Allah’s law, then it does not do that. Rather, they rule by tribal customs and judge affairs in accordance with the desires and traditions of the people, traditions opposing the Islamic Shariah.”

Some experts believe that members of ISIS have become obsessed with overthrowing a Taliban that took credit for driving out the U.S. military in an internationally humiliating fashion. The recent surge of killings and bombing appears to be just the tip of the spear. Even some Biden officials have broken ranks with the White House to warn Americans that ISIS-K could carry out a terrorist attack on U.S. soil in 2022.
