More Democrats Jump Ship in Advance of Mid-Term Elections

Democrat Representatives Mike Doyle and David Price are joining colleagues in announcing they will not run for re-election, a warning sign that they don’t believe their party has much of a chance of winning.

Rep. Doyle hails from Pennsylvania, a state President Biden won in 2020 while Rep. Price represents a district in North Carolina, which Biden lost by just over a percentage point. Both are “purple” states that have routinely elected Democrats to state and federal positions, so it is telling that these men, both experienced politicians, no longer feel they would be able to keep their seats in next year’s elections.

It’s not hard to see why Reps. Doyle and Price are throwing in the towel. President Biden’s current approval rating stands at a measly 45% according to FiveThirtyEight. Fewer than 40% of voters approve of the way the president has handled the economy, education, jobs, healthcare, abortion, and guns.

Even mainstream news media outlets are warning that the president’s approval ratings will tank further during the Christmas season. The supply chain shortage is sure to make it hard for hundreds of millions of Americans to find what they want to buy.

What’s more, airlines who followed the president’s call to impose brutal vaccine mandates on employees will almost certainly be affected by staff shortages. Employees who don’t want the jab will either quit or be fired. The president’s own vaccine mandate for TSA staff will complicate things even further, guaranteeing long lines, missed flights and overall holiday misery for American travelers.

It’s no secret that Democrats fully expect to lose control over the House of Representatives in the upcoming mid-term elections. Many blame Republican control over the redistricting process in various states. However, the truth is that voters are simply fed up with Democrats who promised voters a utopia but provided inflation, shortages, and a sputtering economy instead.

Rep. Doyle, known to be a close ally to House Speaker Rep. Nancy Pelosi, would almost certainly have to answer to angry voters who oppose the radical agenda most Democrats in Washington have embraced. Rep. Price, a member of the House Appropriations Committee, would be hit with questions on the $3.5 trillion “Build Back Better” bill, including inquiries about the government’s eagerness to spy on the finances of private citizens.

It’s easy to understand why both representatives aren’t running for reelection, and voters can almost certainly expect more Democrats to follow in their footsteps.
