The Washington Post has published a breathlessly panicked op-ed declaring that Congress must never allow President Trump to have public funding for his presidential library. The paper also moans that Steps Must Be Taken to ensure that Trump is not allowed to spend his own money to build a library. The Post’s point seems to be that Trump’s policies were so wildly successful that 2017 through 2020 should probably just be forgotten about and never talked about, thus embarrassing the rest of our entire political class over their systemic, decades-long failures. It’s also kind of weird that the media doesn’t seem to really believe the 2020 election is over.
The Post admits that its biggest fear is that Donald Trump will somehow use a presidential library to showcase his personal successes as President of the United States – you know, exactly like all other past presidents have done with their presidential libraries.
“Trump must never have an official presidential library, and Congress should move quickly to make sure he never will.”
Ha! It’s always Year Zero for the communists. The Post is also incredibly worried that Trump will publish all the evidence from the 2020 election in a library, so… no way the public should ever see that!
The media will continue piling on against President Trump like this for the next few months, but keep in mind that they have no one but themselves to thank for this situation. The mainstream media, after all, are the ones who set the standard back in 2000 that it’s okay to continue challenging election results for as long as the left wants. Hillary Clinton’s final court challenge to the results of the 2016 election didn’t wrap up until February 2017. But that paled in comparison to the media’s attempts to overturn the 2000 election results.
Al Gore lost the 2000 election fair and square. The Gore campaign continued asking for recounts (in blue counties) to try to wrestle out a win any way that they could. This dragged on until December 15, more than a full month after everyone realized that George W. Bush was the clear winner. Despite recount after recount, there was never any point after the 2000 election in which Al Gore was ahead in Florida. The Supreme Court finally decided that America had been through enough and put a fork in the process.
But it wasn’t over for the media!
Filled with moral certainty that Al Gore was the real president, multiple newspapers financed their own Florida hand recount scheme to try to overturn the 2000 election. Using increasingly ridiculous standards, the media recounted the Florida ballots again and again and again. This went on for months. They started to get desperate in March of 2001, because Bush was winning every single recount.
“Well, let’s count them again. Only this time, we’ll include dimpled chads!”
Bush wins again.
“Damn it! Let’s do it again, but now let’s count the ballots that look as if a voter might have breathed in the vicinity of Al Gore’s name!”
Growing increasingly desperate, the media did one last recount in which they included BLANK BALLOTS that voters had turned in – and counted all of those for Al Gore.
Jackpot! Al Gore finally won the 2000 election by 393 votes, so long as the media included ballots in which no mark for president was made!
Realizing that this would never stand up in a court of law, the mainstream media finally threw up its hands in defeat in April of 2001 – five months after the election had concluded and four months after the Supreme Court had told liberals to just move on already.
What do you suppose would have happened if the Florida media recount had discovered, even all those months later, that Al Gore had legitimately won? We don’t have to imagine this scenario. We already know what would have happened.
It would have been declared a “constitutional crisis,” George W. Bush would have been clawed out of the White House, and Al Gore would have been installed as the legitimate president.
Everyone knows this. The media still knows this today. Which is why they don’t want Trump building a presidential library, why they don’t want Trump talking about the election and why they don’t want YOU talking about the election.
